Did you find last month's sudoku tough? Word from our readers is that the puzzle in the Jun/Jul 07 issue of symmetry was much more difficult than a regular sudoku. Reader and Fermilab retiree Phil Martin, Sequim, Wash., wrote, "Awesome sudoku! Can we look forward to more in the future?"

To put those of you who are still stuck out of your misery, we provide the solution to the right. A larger-print version is online.

The solution to the puzzle is unique. Every one of the Standard Model's 16 elementary particle types appears in each row, column, and 4x4 sub-square. If you managed to complete the puzzle or found any nifty tricks to solve it, let us know at letters@symmetrymagazine.org.
