Hi David,

Here is a modern day example of a PP-MC (father and son) pair.

PP: K.T. Mahanthappa -- a pioneering developer of the Close-Time-Path Formulation in Quantum Field Theory, crucial for understanding properties of the early Universe; Professor in Theoretical Particle Physics, University of Colorado at Boulder.

MC: Rudresh Mahanthappa -- Guggenheim Fellow saxophonist and composer in Jazz; Internationally renowned for his exceptionally innovative artistic vision of incorporating the culture of his Indian ancestry with modern Jazz and for his compositions based on Number Theory (check out the Jan 26, 2007 issue of the Science Magazine article on this project!) (http://rudreshm.com).

David,
The PP / MC pair that comes first to my mind are Albert (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Baez) and Joan Baez (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Baez)...

E showed this documentary when he performed at the Palace of Fine Arts in SF back in April -- it was extremely well done, and very moving. He also has a new book out (it's been out in the UK for over a year) about his childhood and life. He made no effort to hide the raw emotion behind his lyrics and music during the show, and it was an amazing performance all around, featuring readings from the book by his bandmate. (An audiobook of that bandmate reading the book is also now available.) Hopefully he'll come back to the area soon...
